The day that Kurt and I went to Salisbury we also went to old Sarum which is the ancient ruin of Salisbury. It sits high on a hill and is absolutely gorgeous. Old Sarum is where the 1st Cathedral was built. I'm posting a picture of the ruins and the castle hill. After Old Sarum we then traveled another 40 minutes to Winchester where the early Kings first came from. Alfred the Great was the great Christian King and other early Kings came from and were crowned here.
